Designer by trade. Inventor at heart.
I’m an aspiring product designer attending the University of California, Santa Barbara. If I’m not behind my desk, I’m reading on the beach, playing volleyball, or climbing in the rec.
It’s hard to place exactly when I got into design, but I’ve always enjoyed making things. I used to shoot home videos on my mom’s Sony and sketch up 3D models in Blender way back in middle school. I was always moving on to the next medium though, and eventually I took my skills to After Effects, then Adobe Illustrator, and finally to Figma.
I think one of the greatest things about design, is that it encompasses so many mediums of invention. Web, motion, graphic, spatial, industrial, I’ve been able to try them all.
So while I’m a product designer by trade, I’m an inventor by heart, and I’m always on the look out for the next medium to build in.

Design Philosophy
Design is a craft, not a talent
A lot of people think being a good designer is about having an innate talent for good visuals. I think that design, like any craft, can be honed and perfected over time through practice and iteration.
It keeps me motivated, knowing that every design I do helps me grow.
Iterate, iterate, and iterate some more
On the way to the final design, you try hundreds of things that don't work. But it doesn't mean that those iterations were useless. Rather, they helped you by identifying things that don't work, enabling you to focus on what does.
Be a storyteller
The way you present a design is almost as important as the design itself. I've found that taking the time to craft a cohesive narrative around my work, has allowed for better feedback and greater support.
Be multifaceted
Life often demands specialization; being able to mold yourself to a specific role. But I think out-of-the-box thinking and connecting different disciplines is what spurs innovation and new ways of looking at design.
Hobbies
The Great Outdoors,
Hiking and camping
I've always been in the outdoors. I was a Boy Scout for six years, got my Eagle, and was fortunate enough to go on a 7-day canoeing trip on the Minnesota boundary waters with my troop. At UCSB, I joined the club rowing team, and I've been recently learning how to surf.
Plant Dad
I love my plants :)
Since my freshman year of college, I've loved taking care of my houseplants. My favorites are a monstera named Meg (after the Hades video game character) and a pothos named Ivy.

Where I got my start
I began freelance designing way back in high school, creating twitter banners and logos for small game studios and internet personas. Eventually I discovered product and web design, and I never stopped creating.
